Steve's Garage Doors

Commercial

High-Speed Doors

Doors that open in seconds, for openings that never stop moving.

A standard commercial door takes twelve to fifteen seconds to open and the same to close. In a building where a forklift goes through that opening four hundred times a shift, those seconds add up to hours of an open doorway, and everything that comes with it. Conditioned air leaves. Dust, insects and outside temperature come in. Traffic waits.

A high-speed door opens in two or three seconds and closes behind the load. That is the whole idea, and it is why they exist in food plants, cold storage, distribution centers and any building where the door is part of the process rather than just the way out.

We install and service Rytec, which builds the widest range of them.

What Kind of Door Fits What Building

Fabric doors

A flexible curtain that rolls up fast and takes an impact without folding. This is the largest family and the most common answer.

Rytec's PredaDoor NXT handles general interior and exterior traffic at high cycle counts. Turbo-Seal Insulated is the cold storage version, where you need the speed and a thermal barrier at the same time. Clean-Roll is built for washdown and food processing, with FDA-compliant components and surfaces that survive being hosed down every night. FlexTec self-repairs after an impact, resetting itself instead of waiting on a service call.

That last part matters more than it sounds. Forklifts hit doors. Not occasionally, routinely. A door that breaks away and resets is a door that is still working on Friday afternoon.

Rigid rolling doors

Rytec's Spiral line, where you need speed but also security and a finished appearance. The slats coil without touching each other, which is what lets a rigid door move fast without wearing itself out.

There are configurations for tight headroom, for full-vision slats where you want light and sightlines, for ventilation, and for hurricane-rated wind loads.

Rubber doors

The PowerTec line, for heavy equipment openings and dock positions that take real abuse. Where a fabric door would be replaced too often, a rubber door absorbs it.

Choosing One

Four questions decide most of it.

How many cycles a day

A door doing sixty cycles is a different machine from one doing six hundred, and buying the light one twice costs more than buying the right one once.

What is on the other side

Freezer, clean room, loading dock and open yard all have different requirements, and thermal or hygienic needs narrow the list fast.

Whether it gets hit

If forklifts run that opening, break-away and self-repair stop being features and start being the reason the door is still up.

How much room is above the opening

Headroom rules out more doors than budget does, and it is worth measuring before anyone quotes.

What We Do

We handle the survey, the install and the service afterward. High-speed doors have controllers, sensors and safety systems, so they need someone who works on them rather than someone who installed one once.

If you have a Rytec door already and it is down, call us. We work on doors we did not install.

Tell us what the opening does and we'll tell you what it needs.

Call us or ask for a free estimate and we'll take it from there.
